Turns out that Win 11 is reminding you that TC is running with ADMIN privledges (does it do that on win 10 also ?)
Is there a way to 'answer' yes on the command that starts TC?
Also, anyone run Power Shell under Take Command? do they step on each others toes, or 'play nice'?
I have an older TC & I'm happy with it.. I installed it on my new Windows 11 system and i't sort of works..
One annoyance, Win 11 always asks if I want to allow it to run. Is there a way to stop Win 11 from asking ??
I just created a new userid on this Win11 and every time the new user fires...
I have Win 7 and TakeCommand 11
Toolbar = Top line with "file, edit, tabs, view, options, windows, help"
I use TC frequently and have been pleased with this 5 star program for many years - but..
Several times a week i'll go to move the window from one screen to the other, and I'll...
Can you post a list of WHICH versions will *NOT* work with Windows 10? Or somehow cover this?
I.E. I have, and am still using V11 on Windows 7. I've been more than happy with it and as a retired user, would like to avoid the upgrade cost.
Thanks

I was searching for a possible way to add the filetype of REX (or REXX) to the existing executables, like; EXE, BAT, CMD .. etc..
I added both REX & REXX to PATHEXT, but just entering "TEST" (for my simple TEST.REX file), at the command prompt, does not execute
the TEST.REX. Entering...
Thanks guys for your clarifications.. Having had no issues for such a long time, making changes show how much I'd forgotten or didn't know! I.E. I don't recall ever running the OPTION command! If I did, it's long forgotten. Ditto LOCALAPPDATA.
& "tcmd.ini location" in the 'help (htm)'...
Charles, your answer opened many more questions. Following those instructions:
1 - When I used the Search function in the Help window yesterday, those explanations did not show up. (nor now)
Where did you find them?
2 -a) I did mention that I'm using v11 (which installed the INI...
I've been quite contented since I upgraded to v11 when I got Windows 7 so many years ago.
Figured it may be time to try v17, and will run the trial version for a month to see if I should upgrade
again. (? Will v11 run on Windows 10? or will I need to upgrade to v17?)
Installed fine...
My "Open Office" crashed on a DOCX file sent to me, the crash left behind hidden 'lock' files for each attempt. TC's "ATTRIB /A:-H" was not able to unhide any file, preventing me from deleting the lock files.
Reverting to the old CMD level, Windows ATTRIB *was* able to unhide, allowing...
I often use the command line to view (read, watch, etc) files by issuing "START fn".
When the 'fn' is long, I enter it as "START *unique", hit TAB and TC fills in the full name (based on the unique character identifying the file) - with the proper quotes around the filename when there are...
Thanks folks.. In this case, it's a fixed directory - so the explicit path worked.
Having a 'current directory' variable in a CMD file would've done it elegently..
Example of what works
DIR /B | HEAD /N10 | TAIL /N1 -- this will display the 10th item, subdirectory or file
Example of what doesn't work
DIR /B | HEAD /N10 > tempfile -- this will NOT write the first 10 items to 'tempfile'
What I'm seeing is the ability of 'HEAD' to pipe it's output to...
DOH! When all else fails -- Read the instructions... Thanks Frank...
I should've checked this forum earlier. This site doesn't send notification of replies et al.

Assuming it's a strange anomaly in 7Zip, and as I don't have 7Zip, but couldn't you use: Z: 7zip ..\etc .. ?
I just tried: C:dir , C:dir \. & C:dir \.. ... all showed the same,
