Not allowing us to reply to announcements forces us to use other NGs to do
so. For example, in two of the last few TCMD... upload announcements the
first reference to the new build actually used an older build number. The
change lists had always been correct, and we could not mention it in
response.

At other times there are questions relating to announcements, esp. new
versions or builds.

Maybe the upload announcements ought to be duplicated in the support groups,
which would not only solve the above issues, but would also make them more
widely read.

Not allowing users to reply to the announcements makes it possible for
users to actually find and read the announcements, instead of having to
sort through a few hundred comments about announcements. (Everybody
would have the same problem if announcements were in the support forum.)

Most users do *not* want to download, read, and save every message that
appears in the forums. That's been a big problem with the old forum and
the source of many complaints.
