As soon as the download is complete, before any questions or the UAC prompt, I get

Same here. Also, AVG reported some virus. Sorry, I didn't write down the name, as it's almost certainly spurious.

I downloaded it a few minutes ago. Everything OK.
Maybe just the CDN that still had to be sync'ed.

    Not reproducible here.

Try downloading it & running it directly instead of through the updater.

I know that Vince and Charles are running x86 Windows - are you using the x86 or x64 version?

I have the same issue, using TCC 20 build 19, and running the option command and updating from there.
I use TakeCommand x64 on Windows 8.1 Pro.

I had same the issue - Win 7 Enterprise x64. I was able to run "C:\ProgramData\JP Software\Take Command 20.0\updates\Update\tcmd.exe" directly. However, instead of prompting me to automatically close running programs, I got warning dialog boxes about not being able to replace running files. That happened 2 or 3 times and then the install finished. Everything service was deleted and recreated. It appeared to install correctly anyway.

I got the same error as the original poster (Windows 7, 64-bit) when using "Check for Updates". Running the installer directly worked fine.

I got the same error as the OP on all three of my PC's ( 2 - Win 10 x64 and 1 Win 7 x64) when using "Check for Updates". All fine when downloading TCMD.EXE from the web site.
