Dubious milestone

Thank you for whatever steps you have taken so I don't see the results of
that! Wow!

Next year they're Tuesday.

<chuckle> Didn't do that here. But then, I have a filter that labels
and archives traffic to the JPSoft forums, so it won't be seen as
spam.

A while back, the biggest source of spam false positives in GMail was
messages to the SpamBayes mailing list (an open source email spam
filtering tool). I found it amusing and ironic.

Today we eclipsed a milestone I'd rather not have seen:
  • 100,000 attempted spammer registrations on the JP Software forums for 2011.
which is up about 40% from last year.

Whoopie.

I don't know if it'll make you feel better, BUT...

On my personal website, I have a page with my late grandmother's *old* pictures. Since we don't know all details from them, I set up a simple comment system where anyone could write in who's who on a given picture. I expected to deal with vandals that would write curses and stuff like that. Instead, I had to shut off the comments for several weeks because of spamming to porn sites. On old B/W pictures.

Good job, Rex. We see very few spam messages making it into the forums.
