Exclude extension from filename completion

Is it possible to totally exclude an extension from filename completion? I tried ":!dcu" (without a command), but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Conversely, if I do "e:!dcu", then after typing "e sorting" on the command line, it won't complete to either sorting.dcu or sorting.pas; it just beeps. "e" is an alias. So, I'm confused.

You have to specify that other files are ok.
For example, I use this, as a fragment of my configuration: ";TYPE:!EXE !DLL hidden system *;".
