French accents using msgbox

Hi,

Using the msgbox command from the tcc command line shows the french accents without problem but not from a btm batch file. The btm batch file is ansi encoded and I'm using notepad++ to edit the file. Do I need to change the encoding of the btm to unicode? Using Take Command version 22.00.38.

It certainly wouldn't hurt.

You don't mention which version of TCC you're using, but most versions use your system's OEM code page, whereas your text editor probably uses the system's Windows ("ANSI") code page.

MSGBOX uses the GUI code page; TCC uses the console code page. If you use a Unicode font in the console you'll be a lot better off; if you use Unicode batch files you'll be 100% accurate.

I don't understand this distinction. TCC uses all UTF-16 internally, right?

Yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with the default console font & code page.

Windows has separate APIs for setting the GUI code page & the console code page. And they have only a passing relationship.
