Recent website and forum failure

Rex:

Have all posts accepted by the forum since the recent failure of the website
and the consequent failure of the forum been sent to email subscribers? The
only ones I received are 1 in TC plugins, and 3 in TC beta.

I just reposted the two posts I sent that were never received. One of them
may be obsolete by now.

Yes; I've received all of the copies of your posts.

| Yes; I've received all of the copies of your posts.

But only the posts I sent this morning came back. I saw at least 3 posts on
the web forum that have not been distributed by email.

The web site, forum, and ftp site were all down Wednesday through
Thursday. Anything you sent while it was down will never be distributed
by email.

Do you mean that posts emailed to the forum while it was down, and
browser-made posts between forum restoration and email restoration will not
be distributed (i.e., emailed)? That stinks!

Since the mail server was also down, it cannot possibly have sent (or received) anything.

I realize that while the mail server was down, nothing in / nothing out.
What I am referring to is that apparently the forum server was up before the
mail server, and posts made during that interval were not distributed when
the mail server was restarted.

That's not quite what happened - the web & forum server was up for a short time, then it went down again for several hours before everything was restored (the mail server last of all).

But the forum email requires the email server to be up -- if it isn't, the messages do *not* get saved to be sent later.

Couldn't the mail sender scan the forum for messages newer than the last one
it sent out, and send them out? It could do this only when newly started.

It could, but it doesn't. I'll pass that on to the vBulletin
developers, but I wouldn't expect to see anything soon.
