Strange CHKDSK behavior

TCC 11.00.34 Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

I have tried to run CHKDSK.EXE from the stand-alone TCC prompt. After some
generic information about the target drive, it displayed the two lines
below. When I pressed "n", the letter was displayed by itself, and the
remainder of the message showed up. I suspect the problem to be in CHKDSK
itself using line-buffered output, going into input mode (automatically
suspending output) before giving time to display the last line. Could not
duplicate in CMD.EXE, because it started the process without the message.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
n
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) n

Not reproducible here (nor is it anything that could possibly be affected by TCC.EXE).

I thought so. I'll try to figure out what happened.

Regardless, my original post was NOT emailed back to me after it was posted!
I was getting ready to repost it, when I saw your response. Many of my posts
to the TC Suggestions NG were likewise not returned to me, and have
therefore switched to using this NG.

The latest post in this NG, from MikeA, was delivered by email in a
virtually unreadable format, with strange strings (HTML control strings?)
embedded, e.g.:

echo %@full[filename.txt (%@full%5Bfilename.txt)] > clip:

when it should have been simply

echo %@full[filename.txt] > clip:

I am not sure how much of this is from my news reader, Outlook Express, but
I doubt it would invent the extra string.

You're probably either blocking the suggestions emails, or you haven't set
the email notification in your forum setup. (There is an option specifying
whether you want to see your own posts.)

I do not monitor this forum when I'm compiling suggestions for new versions.

That's the way it came from the OP.

I am getting them, and my own "suggestions" post was emailed back
to me on 2009-11-12. I have not been on the "forum setup" page in
many months. The issue must be different.

BTW, that 2009-11-12 suggestion was essentially a duplicate of the one
I submitted in this forum today.

That's too bad, many of the suggestions are here!

I went to the browser view for the first time in months, and saw that
there all was legible. Copy and paste to a textfile (using TCC
command "TYPE CLIP: >! file") created executable commands and batch
files. Did the OP post via email or via browser?

I have no way of knowing that.

Re: Strange CHKDSK behavior; problems with email delivery

Steve,

There is a setting on the forums page to say whether you want to receive
HTML or text email. If you state TEXT, then html emails come through
looking like HTML code instead of formatted text. I discovered this when
a bunch of Charles emails were coming through garbled. I believe he has a
screen capture tool that captures his screen text in html.

Outlook Express handles html email just fine. I suggest you change your
settings at http://jpsoft.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions
