First I will say this is version 12.11.69. I also know if I upgrade I can use 'view'. I will say that I don't know how long it will take me to get used to view as I'm really used to more/less from unix and looking at things in the console...

What's with the prelude? So that hopefully I can get an answer other than 'upgrade and use 'v''. :)

OK. If I cat/type a file to the console that had tabs, then copy/paste it to another window, tabs seem to be replaced with spaces. Is there something I'm missing that would allow the tabs to be retained? My suspicion is no, but there's always hope that I've been stupid and missed a setting.

No - that's the way the Windows console works -- it expands tabs to spaces. (It's not TCC doing it).

The console doesn't have a concept of a tab and then 7 missing characters (like a GUI app would).
