As far as I know, Take Command does not expand variables in the 'Command' and 'Directory' fields. If you use a variable in the 'Command' field, 4NT.EXE (or CMD.EXE) will expand it. If you want to use a variable for the startup directory, use a CD or CDD command in the 'Command' field.
Take Command does not expand variables in the Tab properties. (There is
almost never a reason for it, and it would cause a lot of problems when
you want to pass the %'s to the called app.)
Take Command *does* expand variables in the toolbar button definitions,
so if you really want it you can define a button.
