It seems that starting to write (to narrow the included choices) directly after the @select dialog is opened does not work.
You have to click the edit control at the top first.
The history and dirhistory dialogs allows you to type directly without using the mouse to activate that.
Opened like this: set sel=%@select["%TEMP%\test",100,400,1100,1200,title]
