Currently, configuring colors in TCC v36 forces a solid background color on the text. In TCC v35, however, the background is left untouched.

Could we have an option to bring back the TCC v35 behavior for console colors?

I've configured the minimal scenario in OPTION > Windows and compared both versions in identical conditions on Windows Terminal:

  • All colors = Default, Default
  • Directory Colors = "DIRS: Cyan"

TCC v35 colors work as the user expects, while v36's do not. That makes TCC v36 a poor choice for hosts that allow custom backgrounds (images, transparency effects, animations...). Windows Terminal is now Microsoft's default console host on Windows. TCC could be a really good choice (the best one IMHO) if background colors were handled as TCC v35 does.
