    tpipe instructions for newbies

For newbies, are there instructions for writing tpipe commands? There is a long list of parameters but I can find no examples how to write the commands. For example, how do I make it sort lines of a text file, assuming that it can do that?

    whole paths shown in dir

If I type "Dir /B" when in a folder in Dropbox each filename is supplemented with the whole path in square brackets. If I type "Dir /B" in a folder in my hard disk it does not do this. What is the reason? Is there a way of turning off this supplementation?

    ffind does not find files

In Windows 10 if I type "ffind" followed by the name of a file I get "0 files" although the file is on the disk. It occasionally finds files that are on the disk but most of the ones I try give "0 files". What could I be missing that causes this?

    Paths shown in DIR /B

I would expect Dir /B to show just filenames and nothing else. But in some cases and not others the full path is quoted in square brackets after the filename, Why is this? I am running Take Command v24.02.50 x64 on Windows 10 and giving the command dir /B on a folder in Dropbox (folder is in...

    Error "Contents lost before copy"

Because I don't know enough. What I did instead is use Windows CMD which did what I wanted.

    Error "Contents lost before copy"

I am trying to append all text files in a folder to one text file, e.g.: "copy *.txt all.txt". I see some files being copied, then one not copied but the error message "Contents lost before copy", then subsequent files are copied. What is the cause of this? Of what are the contents lost? One...

directory or folder to start in

Until I updated TCC to 18.00.32 it started in the folder C:\indexing - this is what appeared at the prompt. Now it starts in [Program Files\JPSoft\TCMD18]. How do I change it back to C:\indexing? I have done it before but am now defeated by the complexity.

Extended directory search - cure by renaming tcmd.ini

Replying to myself - wrote too soon. Extended Directory Search not working now after Windows reboot. Path still appears where I typed it. jpstree.idx still exists. EDS seems temperamental.

Extended directory search - cure by renaming tcmd.ini

I have not found the "Everything Search" checkbox. But I have made "Extended Directory Search" work. The Command Line tab from Options | TCC has a box labelled "Path:" which is empty. Entering the path to jpstree.idx which I found using another product solved the problem. In my case the path was...

Extended directory search - cure by renaming tcmd.ini

In Version 18, Extended Directory Search went wrong as it has done previously, failing to find any folders. I deleted jpstree.idx and it worked again. Why does jpstree.idx prevent Extended Directory Search from working? Where is the index hidden?

cd command altered in batch file

Many thanks, gentlemen. I have found out what the problem is. I did not put a backslash after "C:" Previously TCC went straight to the quoted folder, but now it brings up the fuzzy directory dialog. The present behaviour is correct so I expect it must have been put right as TCC was revised.

cd command altered in batch file

I have a batch file with a cd command. Since upgrading to v.18 I have found that this brings up a choice box. It did not do this before. If I do not make a choice there is a runaway execution of unwanted file copies and I have to kill TCC quick. The command is: cd...

Many thanks - in summary, right click on the Windows shortcut, select 'Properties' and replace the path statement in the "Start in:" box.
