Would you consider adding a switch (perhaps /A) to your SNAP command to output the text from the console buffer in ASCII rather than Unicode? Or perhaps a separate command to extract the text in ASCII from a snapshot file?

Sorry, Dave, I completely missed your post.

The plugin doesn't just save text; it saves color too, and does some simpleminded compression of repeated characters (usually runs of spaces.) You might check out the SAVECSB command in Vince's 4Console plugin -- I think that actually does what you want.
