Take Command / TCC / CMDebug / TCC-RT Version 35 Released
We have released Take Command, TCC, CMDebug, and TCC-RT Version 35.0, and you can download fully functional evaluation versions from our web site.
Take Command v35 is our biggest update in years. In addition to the hundreds of interface tweaks, speed improvements, and enhancements to existing commands, we've added five new commands and substantially enhanced an existing command. Of special interest are two new and one updated commands:
· AI is a command-line interface to the ChatGPT API compatible large language models (LLMs). AI offers help for TCC command syntax, auto-generation of TCC commands, code snippets, and documentation (as well as queries on other topics). The AI internal command is just the beginning - now that we have the framework (and back-end communication) we plan to incorporate AI support into other parts of Take Command. Look for upcoming AI coding help in the batch editor / debugger, suggestions for fixing syntax errors at the command prompt, batch file code refactoring, and more. The AI command provides default (customizable) prompts for common usage in TCC, but we'd be very interested in hearing about your improved prompts! Post them on our Support Forums.
· XDIR is a combination of DIR, CDD, and a mini file manager. It displays a formatted (and optionally colorized) list of directories and files with the desired fields (i.e., date / time, size, attributes, etc.). XDIR supports most of the DIR options (except for those that use multiple columns or rows). You can scroll through the list using the keyboard and/or mouse, and perform various actions, including searching for files or directories, changing directories, viewing and editing files, and creating, renaming, or deleting files and directories. XDIR is faster and easier for common tasks than leaving your command prompt to call up a file manager or Windows Explorer.
· The EVERYTHING command has been updated to Everything Search 1.5. It's now much faster (64-bit) with hundreds of new features.
The new AI, XDIR, and EVERYTHING have far too many new features to cover in this email -- look for upcoming The Prompt Solution emails where we'll dig deeper into each new command and their features and options.
See What’s New in Version 35 in the help for details on all of the changes and new features.
We have already sent v35 registration keys to all eligible users (anyone who ordered v34 within the last 90 days, and everyone with a current Extended Support agreement). If you think you should receive an update and haven't seen our email, check your Junk folder. We've also had some upgrade emails bounce with various errors on the recipient side. In particular, t-online, gmx, and web.de are bouncing all of our emails, and their network admins are ignoring our attempts to communicate. We have resent the bounced emails from a Gmail account, so if you're on one of those domains look for the
