In examples for variable functions, use a table with a column showing function parameters, and another column showing function values. Some functions already show it this way, e.g., @ASCII, @FIELD. In some instances the function value may include significant white space characters, esp. leading or trailing; the examples should display them clearly, e.g., with a special character.
