When using FireFox and in a thread the green dot indicating that the author of a post is currently online is nicely animated with radiatinf concentric green circles. That makes FireFox use 10% CPU (compared to 0%). I have seen IE do much the same (but with squares instead of circles) but today IE is showing the green dot without animation. So I figure there might be a local setting to control this. Does anyone know of a FireFox setting that turns off such animations?

I don't allow FireFox on any of my systems. It's just too slow, incompatible, and a general memory hog.

Showing the same animation, Opera is using about 0.1% and Edge about 0.4%.
