Unfortunately the log wasn't very informative -- Windows Installer simply crashed with an internal error.

Is this reproducible for you?

I have tried installing half a dozen times with the same result so I guess it is reproducible.

Try it with the MSI installer (https://jpsoft.com/downloads/v18/tcmdx64_msi.msi) and see if that works.

O.K. That seemed to install BUT when I try to start the app (either TCC or TC) I get a nastygram that "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click to close the application."

I was able to restore to 18.00.30 by going to Programs and Features and deleting Take Command and then reinstalling 18.00.30, so I am at least semi-functional.
